The Secret Garden

She walked the path
In the shadow of old ruins
Along the valley of strewn dreams
And blossoming lies.

At that place of emptiness codified...

Where monuments speak in glints
of dappled sunlight and crumbling limestone.

There she picked wildflowers,
Played with dragonflies and
Hummed to the music of her footsteps.

As the mood struck it,
The sky occasionally kneeled down to kiss her brow.

The ellipses and circles she traversed
Inside the garden's secret labyrinth
Carved scars where Earth met Hades
If viewed by one standing at Heaven's gate...
Etching thoughts within
brilliant panes of colored vitrine illusions...
shattered and pieced together in her kaleidoscope mind.

Streaming like water
Beneath the carelessly flowing
Patchouli-scented  pleats in a schoolgirl's skirt of Time,
Glittering koi resolutions swam upstream
Confidently
To a mosaic of mimosa garland memories.

Pressing wantonly between her thighs.

Vaulting through the mists and
Over the waterfalls
Of her doubts and protestations.
Emerging dragon-like.
Guarding the jewel of her tide,
The marred misconception of purity
Opened
Her third eye wide.

Revealing the inception tree
Where patterns - like fingerprints on the cookie jar-
Identified her truth.

  1. In Japanese symbolism, the koi represents perseverance in adversity and strength of purpose. The strongest koi swims upstream until it reaches the final waterfall, where it vaults into the mists and becomes a water dragon.
